I just tried this on <http://validator.w3.org/> but my page did *not*
validate HTML 4.01 strict when I used bare <script> tags. Perhaps it
only works with event handlers in button tags?
That is a shame.
I believe that the 4.01 spec is very clear on this point.
I have never used the validator, so I am not comfortable filing a bug
report. But if David (or someone else) wanted to file a bug then I would
certainly be interested in the results.
OK. I'll follow it up with the web community, file a bug if this is
justified, and report back.
