I have. I've heard good stories about JamVM too, btw, which is in Debian sid.

Neither of them is able to run Jmol as of yet. See [1]. If interested, get in 
touch with people on #classpath.

Anyway, this weekend I was talking to Mark Wielaard (on that channel), and he
fixed a few Classpath bugs, but had trouble to get the Swing3D class of Jmol 
running... On [2] you should be able to minotor the progress of running Jmol 
with free/open source virtual machines.
