  I'm also using OS X v 10.4.8.  I've tried both Firefox 1.5 and 2.0 and
found the same behavior.  I guess "jerky" is ambiguous, but with small
molecules Jmol has always been very responsive for me.  I've set up a
test page with two side-by-side instances of Jmol with the same molecule.
