This is usually an indication that your server is not properly finding the files. It's a directory issue. Be sure to open the Java contol panel -- argh on a Mac -- ah, look at the Java log in the System logs folder -- and see what it is telling you. It will say something like "file not found -- JmolApplet.jar" or something like that. Then we could know what "loads the applet just fine" means. Be sure to try on a PC as well using Firefox.
