There is definitely something odd there. Frieda, try first loading

http://chemapps.stolaf.edu/jmol/docs/examples-11/new.htm

Then load the page below. Is that any different? I'm wondering if there 
is a Java/browser/possibly Jmol bug that messes up synchronization when 
the applet is being cached. After new.htm caches the applet, sync2.htm 
should start right up very quickly. Not a solution, but I'm interested 
if that produces any results.
