Yes, I know and I also saw that a specific MIME type was thought for CML
(chemical/x-cml) but has been deprecated.
In MediaWiki, handlers are attached to MIME types (one handler for each MIME
type, or default handler), so it's easier to create one molecular handler if
molecular files have specific MIME types.
I will ask on Wikipedia what they think about this also, related to the
possibilities of MediaWiki.
