Paul and Bob, I'm pretty sure ChemDoodle is simply using Resolver for 2D ---> 3D. If I'm correct, then going directly to Resolver is the way to go.
I've had some problems with Resolver recently. These problems have disappeared. Resolver in now on new hardware. That may have solved the problem.
