The installation works OK and the resulting Java works in Safari. It is a bit
clumsy because the disk image has to be downloaded and then the Java installer
has to be run.
Apple have handed this over to Oracle it seems. I preferred it when clicking on
Missing Plugin led to a download and install directly.
Users seem to have to work harder and harder to use Java applets these days.
Not good for our user base.

Apple released a java "update" yesterday, the effect of which is to remove the
applet plug-in from your browsers and then force a download of the 1.6 version
from Oracle. Has any mac user done this and, if so, what have ben the results?
