Bob, from my experience, i need to have files and jsmol in same directory if it
is locally. And locally meaning without server apache installed. I can move
files out of directory of JSmol on the server, where i can store files inside
subdirectory of JSmol or different directory. Localhost should behave like a
server. PIno

Yes, it's quite the pain. I don't think Firefox programmers will consider it a
bug. The best thing to do is to create a web site and work with that. I think
it's possible that an apache server on localhost might also work.
Anybody know if that's the case? -- That if you access your local machine via
localhost and an apache server, you can access files that are not downstream of
the path of the HTML page?

Is the local machine issue something that can be fixed so that i can do what i
want to be able to do? If i switch to JSmol down the road, I don't want to
reorganize the whole site. Thanks for your help. FEZ

I have used Jmol at http://classes.yale.edu/chem220. I am not a programmer but
I am getting my feet wet with JSmol. I was able to get the following script to
display a rotating cyclohexane with all files in the main directory. Since my
website has number of subdirectories, I moved FEZtest5.html to a subdirectory
to see if it would work and made three "logical" changes. I used ../ before
everything marked in red below. No luck. I call upon the pros for guidance.
One other thing. The command loop 0 works great in Jmol; there is no end to
the motion. All I get with JSmol is one pass and motion stops. Thanks for any
assistance. Fred Ziegler
LOOP -- ah, I have to admit I think I forgot to check that. It's working now.
See http://chemapps.stolaf.edu/jmol/jsmol.zip
directories: I just tried this myself. It works fine at
http://chemapps.stolaf.edu/jmol/jsmol/test/jsmol.htm HOWEVER it does not work
on my hard drive. So I suspect that the AJAX file loading business is not
allowed to use "../" on a local machine -- a reasonable limitation, I think.
