Hi
I'm still getting a problem with Chrome (Version 29.0.1547.76 on Fedora 19) and
recent JSmol versions opening pdb.gz files.
To reproduce the issue:
Download a recent jmol.zip from http://chemapps.stolaf.edu/jmol/zip/
unzip, then unzip the bundled jsmol.zip to get the jsmol folder
copy the jsmol folder to a local webserver e.g. /var/www/html/jsmol,
setting appropriate permissions
edit, say, jsmol.htm so that var Info points at the local jsmol.php
add a link to data/3hz7.pdb.gz (one of the bundled pdb.gz files) e.g.
<a href="javascript:Jmol.script(jmolApplet0,'load data/3hz7.pdb.gz')">load
data/3hz7.pdb.gz</a>
With recent versions of JSmol, 3hz7.pdb.gz fails to load with a 404 Not
found error
The problem does not seem to be binary files in general as .pse files
display fine
Similarly, the problem does not seem to be .gz files in general as
water.xyz.gz displays fine
So, seems to be a specific issue with processing .pdb.gz files. If I
actually unpack 3hz7.pdb.gz such that a copy of 3hz7.pdb is also present in
the /data folder the 3hz7.pdb.gz link (and an equivalent 3hz7.pdb link)
works!
Not mission critical, as I can just use the .pdb files. However. it used to
work! The last version of JSmol, that I am aware of, for which this worked
properly was 3.3.0 2013-07-18 (NB jsmol.php not in /php folder in this case)
Anyone else seeing this?
