JR Schmidt at UW Madison is working hard to create a JavaScript-only version of WebMO. I think he is making good progress, and it will probably be independent of Jmol. I believe his solution will be to use WebGL for the HTML5 version and an independent application for iOS. Don't know exactly what his time frame is, but he certainly appreciates the urgency.
