As a simple solution you could place a '<div>' element with the same ID
as the upper level JSmol '<div>' element (of the same size) into the
same location where JSmol will be inserted. This could contain an error
message which would remain there if something fails in a very early
stage. Once the '<div>' element will be replaced by a JSmol '<div>'
element, the JSmol Javascript library should already provide error
messages in most cases.
