What would be the benefit? How often do I add an era to convert 2006BC to 2006AD? Some calendars support multiple eras, but they may be of irregular length. Calculating jumps of multiple eras may be tricky and still not likely to be useful.

Era is unlike any other duration field (like years or hours) because it has no real estimated length. However, we should be able to add one to the era of the date 2006 BC and get 2006 AD.

This has peculiar properties, in that the amount added is small close to the year zero and large far from the year zero. We could handle this by averaging the difference.

So, should we add an eras duration field?
