I agree on this part. And when we were a small group, we tried to force ourselves to work on it, and things didn't work out. New comers mostly have stronger drive to work and contribute, this is good but sometimes it scares others away. If it were up to me, the best case scenario would be to write something all of us as a LUG and contribute to open source. IMHO it's very hard, because most of us work at least 14 hours a day.
