Guys n Gals, I would rather see more emails such as this one in JoLUG rather than the "why isn't this working, or why is that not perfect, or why did this go wrong".
Online Lectures ============== What about onlinelectures? Sure every 2 weeks or so we can make real lectures and for those that are interested and HAVE THE TIME! (you all forgot that one) to attend, will do. But during the other 12 days, what's stopping anyone from writing a nice tutorial, documentation, presentation slide with some text in it, and posting it in JoLUG's website along with a link here in the mailing group? People can download and learn at their own comfort, and comment with questions if needed. Lecture Notes n Slides =============== Secondly, In addition to the above, all of the slides and notes that are done inside the real lectures can also be put in JoLUG;s website for those who couldn't make it. I for one would have loved to be there for Faisal's SVN lecture but couldn't. But what i do not like or wish to do is run after all the authors and start asking them for their notes... After all, we do have a comunity base (the website). And please don't say anything with regards to anyone intentionally not going to the lectures because they'll have the notes on line afterwards... This is not University, and there IS a difference between reading them, or being in the room with someone teaching them. Website Host ============ Finally, I discussed this in a previous email but did not get any reply.. If JoLUG is having trouble with cost and host, I am willing to host the site and its content as well as contribute in it's maintenance and moderation as a token of my contribution to JoLug. Who do I have to personally ask for this to be considered? If in doubt about anything, Ammar Ibrahim is my reference.
