I was able to run the example in jonas/examples/src/eb.  From looking at the code, it 
seems like it's making use of transactions (in the deployment descriptors, TX_REQUIRED 
was set....), and no exceptions were thrown.  Maybe I'm off base and am talking about 
totally different stuff?  Or maybe the example's not exercising the full capability of 
transactions, where my setup would break with MySQL?  How would it break, what kind of 
exceptions would be thrown? FWIW, I'm running the jonas_jdk1.1.tar.gz package under 
the IBM jdk 1.1.8.
