To get a complete perspective, you should submit this question to both the Jonas and
Jboss user lists.

Subject: comparison with jBoss

I have recently been comparing Jonas with JBoss. I was running Jonas
first, but installed jBoss to check it out. (JBoss is an open-source
EJB server also.)

JBoss is very easy to use and has a much more active user mailing list
than this one. I get the impression they are rapidly gathering support.
Their feature set is nice.

However, I've found that my application runs quickly and reliably on
Jonas (at least if I use RMI rather than Jeremie!), but it has problems
in JBoss. (Memory leak and execution speed problems.)

My questions for the Jonas developers...

(1) have you looked at the ease-of-use features of JBoss, like
auto-deployment, no equivalent to "GenIC", and web administration of
configuration settings?

(2) Are you looking into performance enhancements, such as avoiding
object serialization for EJB-to-EJB calls?

(3) Do you plan to implement RMI-IIOP for client-to-EJB interface?
(which appears to me to be the best choice in the long run) How about
the rest of EJB 2.0?

(4) is the developer community for Jonas actively adding features? How
many developers are working on this?

(5) how many companies are using Jonas for mission-critical enterprise
applications? Is Jonas targeting business users, or is it primarily a
platform for research?

I need to decide whether to stay with Jonas, or to switch to JBoss. A
point-by-point comparison would be very helpful.
