A song like that does make me wonder though - what's worse? the woman pointing out what a lazy bum her man is, or the fact that she keeps loving him no matter what - now, THAT'S a doormat song! Anyone familiar with "You've Got Me On A String" by Janis Ian? Talk about a doormat song! So politically incorrect, given the times (it must've been written in the 70s, at the height of the women's movement, optimism of the passage of the ERA, etc) and its milieu, but man oh man, what a song when you're in one of those weepy, insecure, I'm a victim/me against the world-type moods!
