Have to jump in with my memory. Picture it: Sicily, 19 - no wait. That's not it. Summertime, 1976. I'm working as a page at the downtown Public Library. Then taking a bus to our summer home in Canada each night after work. I bought the paperback of Valley of the Dolls at the bus station and began to read it around 6. Read it on the bus on the ride. Then read the whole book through until 4 in the morning. Such a scandalous tale she told. Jerry
