I don't know if it is for the sake of brevity, but have you noticed that on USA tv shows no one says hello or good bye on the phone? I also notice that customers do not say please or thank you. Perhaps that isn' the way people in genral are but perhaps tv and film is one reason why people are becoming less polite?(I am aware that it appears like I am bashing the uSA and manners because I site American tv-but really we don't have much else to watch!)
