Darice, you have knocked me out. Your post of your experiences is one that
books could be written about. You actually spoke to Janis. I am thrilled
and feel as if I am somehow touching her by reading your post and now
writing back to you. silly? maybe, but she does that to me. You were
right in the middle of everything. I am supergassed and feel starstruck by
even knowing you. wow. If there is one place in my life that I wish I
could have been, it was there, and then. Just a small town texas boy then
but looking far away and wishing I could. Thanks for the feelings.
I live in Rising Star. Do you remember that name? Never heard of Ovalo but
didn't grow up here so don't know all the surrounding towns. Gonna look it
up on the map.
Found it. It must be really little. Rising Star is pretty close to
Brownwood. (This town has the Laura Schelliger (I know that is mispelled but
with her, who cares) radio show on every afternoon between two religious
programs. Apparently they think she is some kind of Christian woman. The
beast) My house is approx. 45 miles from there, depending on the route.
Haven't heard of Kenny Mann but can't get anything here on the radio except
country and western, so I don't listen. They do have intermittent periods
of stations that play oldies, definitely not much if any Joni, but they
don't last long. The only constant in radio here is the country and it is
usually the new kind, which is revolting. I kind of like the old version.
You and Janis, digging Sam Andrew. He must have been something. She also
had quite the thing for Country Joe and longed for Otis Redding, I read. Of
course, have no firsthand knowledge. Thanks again,

mack
