I don't think anyone can *make* anyone *get* a certain
kind of music. You're either going to, um, appreciate
it by discovering it for yourself or... you're not.
People can tell you whatever they want about why
so-and-so is such a great singer or songwriter
(whatever), but there's still personal taste.

I'm gonna catch hell from all kinds of people for
this, but the time has come for me to step out and
'fess up that, in addition to disliking Stevie Nicks,
(quelle horreur!) I never got (or maybe just plain
don't like) James Taylor (don't even ask - somehow
he's just too white-bread for my liking - and yet, I
do like some of his stuff, but he always sounded like
he needed to take an iron pill or something); Dylan
(there again, I like a lot of his *stuff* and even
sing/play it myself, but not necessarily him singing;
and (this is the big one because I know a lot of you
are major fans) Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. Never
got 'em, never will. Oh yeah, and Minnie Ripperton -
to be fair, the only song I ever heard her sing is
"Loving you" and I wanted to scream every time she
went for this "La la la la la.... aaaaaaaaaaaaahh"
things in a range no one should ever attempt to get
into, even when equipped with an oxygen mask.

The flame-proof suit is on, so I'm ready to take my
lumps (nothing liked a mixed metaphor to close off.)
