hey les, thanks for the technical explanation. i really like to hear how these things work. and i hope you know all the love we send with the joshing. and post when you can. please do sent your thanks to jeff at smoe for making the effort, as well.
i was laughing and howling and feeling a little superior when i first saw the problem last night, for a couple of reasons. 1) because i'm not subscribed at work, i wasn't getting one every couple of minutes. that would have been really irritating. 2) because i've got a cable modem at home, it only took about 20 seconds to receive 468 messages. a dialup connection would have been so irritating. 3) because i use a pretty intelligent email program at home, it took me about 20 seconds to set up a couple of searches for the EXACT titles of the offending messages and delete them all on the fly. EXACT because i didn't want to miss the RE:'s, the FW:'s, all your lovely catty comments... ;-) this wouldn't have been possible in say, oh, AOL, as far as i can tell. i did the same tonight. patrick np - bill evans at montreaux, 6.15.68 > >So... every single time someone visited the website on the 16th.... an >email got sent to the list. > >Again, my sincere apologies for the 418 unwanted email messages.
