was about Les Ross! No, wait a minute, he just sang it at last year's fest...;~)

Joni has never formally stated that NTB is about O.J. Simpson, Jackson Browne, or 
anyone specifically, only that it's about male-female abusive behavior like what was 
(allegedly) exhibited from these guys. (I'm sure OJ is tracking the real killer as we 
speak!)

It's just a case of "if the shoe fits, you must acquit". No, sorry, it's "if the shoe 
fits, wear it"...

As for the verse, "daddy. Let's get some girls, one
for you and one for me", I've always thought that it was showing that abusive behavior 
is passed from father to son, or from one generation to the next, and already at the 
age of three this child sees girls as an expendable commodity (in his own way, like 
you would replace a broken toy or something). Or, it could be that the child is 
"parrotting" something he's overheard his father say. Three year olds will definitely 
do that!
