For all you So. Cal. listers, here's a question. As I mentioned in another post, I am transcribing an interview Joni did in 1994 at KSCA (in Glendale) for a program called Music Hall. The female interviewer never identifies herself. Any idea who she is? (I'd rather have a name for her other than "Announcer.")
Also, at one point the interviewer asks an awkward question (I thought) something along the lines of is there anything in your back catalog that embarrasses you (excuse me! Everything Joni does is gold, pure gold!!) Anyway, back to reality, Joni says no, but talks about how her early stuff is very intricate and has a lot of grace notes, that it's very difficult for her to recreate how she played those songs, and she says something like "it's like ood playing." Thinking she was referring to some kind of intricate musical instrument, I thought it was ute. No such thing in the dictionary. I've looked up ood, ude, ute, and any combination I can think of. Okay, it's probably a three-letter word, but I'm obsessed about getting these transcriptions as accurate as possible. If you have any ideas, please email me. Lindsay
