<<Anyone else got
any sound effects they love and/or hate by Joni?>>

Hey Abby, I love the "chicken squacking" too...really serves the song well. This week
I made my kid sister a Joni compilation CD, and I wanted to show all of Joni's sides.
The only rule I placed on myself was that I could only select one song from each
record max. "Talk to Me" was my selection from DJRD, as I think it shows 'playful'
Joni at her best, and of course Jaco adds another dimension to it as well.

But back to your question...on the other side of the spectrum, I really hate her
"drink up now, it's getting on time to close" on "Richard" on MOA (she duplicated it
on the S&L tour as well). I think the cranky waitress voice takes away from the
poignancy of the song. Maybe she's trying to create a contrast between the intensity
of the singer/storyteller & the complacency of the waitress, but it always rings false
to me.
