i have always thought the jet plane landing on " ray's dad's cadillac " was the bee's knees, it sounds so realistic as it moves from one speaker to the other and it is the perfect touch for the song. i also like the way she uses brenda russell's voice as the radio in the dashboard, it is reminiscent of the headphone music on " this flight tonight", with the line " goodbye baby, baby goodbye, ooh, ooh, love is blind." this topic reminds me of being taken by surprise when joni used the word f**k in "woman of heart and mind " on FTR , quite unexpected of joan at the time. i also always thought the song " reoccurring dream ", such a pointed comment on the run amokness of capitalism,with the voices of the commercials in the background " order your youth secrets of the stars, call now --just $9.99 "so apropos ! well, i've got to get back to work.
