Catherine:

I never saw heard this as a harmony--if it is, then what's she singing it
"against"?  Rather, it always seemed like the primary melody line to me, and
like she was trying to hit a note that she missed by a noticeable fraction.
But then, I had screwed-up speakers for many, many years.  I'll go back and
listen to it again.

I'm doubtful, but I hope you're right.  ;-)
