>From Netrhythms.co.uk, a great site focusing on off-mainstream music,
especially Roots and Americana:
"It's tragic news that Gus Dudgeon and Sheila ("my old lady") were both
killed instantly when Gus' Jaguar veered off the M4 and crashed in the early
hours of Sunday morning. Gus was best known for his collaborations with Elton
John, David Bowie and many more and was one of the most successful British
record producers ever.
During the past year he'd been filmed for the 'Classic Albums' TV Show,
showing the making of the 'Yellow Brick Road' album, he'd produced the album
of the Bacharach & David concert at The Albert Hall, featuring Elvis
Costello, Dionne Warwick, Sacha Distel, Petula Clark, Paul Carrack, Bob
Geldof and Lynden David Hall, and Burt himself, amongst others, and now
available on DVD - and he'd been involved with the Bob The Builder Album,
remixing Elton John's Crocodile Rock!"
I'd add that I met Gus Dudgeon last year, when I went to see Caroline
Trettine play, and he was a very engaging and down-to-earth fellow. I saw
the programme about the making of Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, and it made me
haul the double-vinyl album out and listen to it all the way through.
Sigh, another one gone.

NP: Still Robin Holcomb - I only found out this morning that this fourth
album even exists (Big Time), also on the Netrhythms site, and lo and behold
I find a promo copy for 2 quid in a second-hand shop.
