Well, I know better than to join in these threads but I couldn't let this one go. I thought the impeachment charges were a bit more serious than a traffic violation. "Perjury," charging Mr. Clinton with "providing perjurious, false and misleading testimony to the grand jury regarding the Paula Jones case and his relationship with Monica Lewinsky." And "obstruction of justice," charging that Clinton "obstructed justice in an effort to delay, impede, cover up and conceal the existence of evidence related to the Jones case." What continues to gall me and will always bother me is that the president of the United States went on national television, looked straight into the camera, wagged his finger, and in a most forceful tone stated "I did not have sex with that woman." Yeah, right. He would have gained enormous credibility in my book if he would have simply told the truth. My then-12-year-old daughter asked me why the president was on trial. I don't think I've ever been quite so ashamed of a politician as then, when I had to explain to her, how this man we elected to the highest office in the nation, acted so irresponsibly and then tried to manipulate the situation so he could hold onto his office and his family. What kind of a role model is this, I wondered. And still do. Scott
