Interestingly, I put on my gold CD of Blue last night and heard some nuances
I'd not caught before. Among them, as she sings "blue" in the opening of the
title track, the final note of that word becomes beautifully hollow, like the
sound of someone blowing over the lip of a bottle or like wind or like the
sound of the sea in a seashell. I listened to this over and over upon
discovery, because I'd never heard Joni's voice take on that same quality,
and I feel she's done it intentionally here.

So, class, if you'll all take out your copies of Blue and turn to the opening
word and take a listen, I'd be interested to hear what you think.

In any case, it is a timeless song and I have to agree with Kate Bennett that
I really wish she'd recorded a version for the new CD!!!
