So the songwriting credit is shared with Doc Pomus? Isn't he the one whose
death lead Lou Reed to write and record the incredible "Magic and Loss"
album? This is a brilliant piece of work, but it's soooo sad I rarely listen
to it.

Besides the title track, it includes "Power and Glory," "What's Good" and
"Harry's Circumcision." I really admire this album, but it's so dark I can
only listen to it when I feel like I'm so happy I could just drop dead, which
isn't often.

I think many people make the mistake of assuming that Lou's career ended with
the Velvet Underground, but his stuff from the 80s and 90s is absolutely
profound. "Drella" is one of my desert island pics. And "New York" is also
excellent. His songwriting actually approaches the level of you-know-who
sometimes.
