Someone wrote: "At the bottom of the heap is CMIAR. This is terrible,
in my opinion, and
not worth the money I spent on it."
For me, CMIAR is an uneven album, however I think it contains two of
Joni's greatest and most brilliant songs, "Number One" and "The Beat of
Black Wings". The only thing that keeps "Beat" from perfection is that
chorus "Johnny Angel". If Joni had dropped that it would be perfect. I also
like "Tea Leaf Prophecy" and "A Bird that Whistles". "My Secret Place" is
also good. The rest I skip over when they come up. Dave.
