America is weird that way.  It's true, and I don't think Joni was 
dissing lesbians.  Rather, she was pointing out that Americans prefer 
their women to talk and sing with a "girly" voice.  I'm not sure that's 
entirely true, given the success of Cher and Tracy Chapman, among 
others.  Regardless, I'm not offended by Joni's observation.
