But wasn't that more than a decade ago? She just seems decidedly less interested in doing that stuff these days. I really hope to be proven wrong, because Joni's involvement in the marketing of her records is just as important as any label's effort. Besides the Gap ads were cool back then (some of them still are) and they were more about musicians as musicians not musicians as models. So it was a bit like doing the Apple "Think different" ads. And the underlying point was that Faith Hill, unlike Joni, doesn't seem to turn down much when it comes to promotion. After all, her thing is really about the face, then the song and not so much the performance. She was on some show recently performing her new single and the weakness of her voice really showed.
