I disagree here, I'm afraid. I would alter your statement to say "everything CAN BE political", but not "IS political". It depends entirely on the motives of the person involved. If Bob is choosing between zucchini and summer squash on the basis of where it was picked, and whether the workers picking the vegetables have been taken advantage of etc., etc. then yes, the choice is political. But if he's choosing simply on the basis of flavour, ie. he prefers zucchini to squash, and ignores those other factors, then that choice has no political motive whatsoever. It's simply a matter of taste. I was at the supermarket last night, and was debating whether to buy strawberries or rockmelon. I chose strawberries, simply because they were cheaper. You might argue that they were cheaper because the workers used to pick them were underpaid, or whatever - and someone else might reject them on that basis - but that had absolutely no bearing on MY decision. It makes no difference that all those factors exist if the person making the choice gives them no significance. I "think" that's what Bob meant - correct me if I'm wrong! Hell
