This is clearly a comment based on Joni's own experience. Every time I saw her on Letterman it was on the tail end of the show and they never talked, so maybe he just does it to Joni because she's scary (I don't want to get on her bad side, do you?) :-) sheze a mama lion!

This is an excerpt from the NY Post column that Susan mentioned:

"Letterman treats musicians like the armpit of the [entertainment] industry. He tags you on at the end [of his television show], never talks to you - while he talks to the dimmest actress."

While I can understand where Joni is coming from on this one, I'm afraid I have to disagree with her, at least after seeing the classy treatment Dave extended to Warren Zevon a week or two ago. I thought it was one of his finest moments.
