I tend to agree with Jack. I get the distinct impression that Letterman is a huge music fan. For the MOST part the very artists he chooses, shows me he has a respect for good music. However, it is pretty customary to put musical acts on last, on most talk shows. I seem to recall a time, quite awhile back when his musical acts where the middle act. He may also put them on last so you know what time to tune in, and you don't have to waste your time listening to that dim witted actress!
Plus let's face it Dave is a bit of a nerd and musicians probably intimidate the hell out him with their coolness - especially Joni!
