This is true. Most American kids are sent to an orthodontist when they are
about 10. We are obsessed with having the "perfect" smile. On the other
hand, the Brits have been getting a bad rap for their teeth. i.e. Austin
Powers, or there was a Simpsons episode where Lisa Simpson was shown "The Big
Book of British Teeth" by her orthodontist.
I did hear on the radio the other day a poll which was taken on American & UK
teeth.
Here's the results:
Wildman rocker Ozzy Osbourne and former Spice Girl Melanie C are the Britons
with the worst teeth, according to a survey published today.
The poll of bad gnashers also picked out Tony Blair, Tory stalwart Ann
Widdecombe, pop star Gareth Gates and fashion designer Vivienne Westwood.
The Britons with the best teeth, according to the survey, were James Bond
actor Pierce Brosnan and actress Elizabeth Hurley.
US President George W Bush was voted the American male with the worst teeth
in the survey, while former president Bill Clinton's daughter Chelsea was
named as the female most in need of the dentist's help.
Top of the American teeth stakes in the poll were Hollywood actors Brad Pitt
and Julia Roberts.
