Did you see the bit Jamie Lee Curtis did recently with the here's how I really
look? I think it took allot of guts on her part(no pun intended) There is far
too much emphasis put on looks for both men and woman though I think it's
harder on teen age girls.
I could tell horror stories for days about excessive dieting and steroid
abuse and I do. To every one I can hoping they'll remember what I say. The
hardest for me to watch and the hardest to get through to are the teen age
girls doing cardio overload with out eating for who knows how long while doing
heavy diet pills.
I've learned working around a gym for a while that the image of fitness is
very unhealthy.

how the hell are women supposed to "measure" up to those images on the mag
covers etc when the aformentioned images are airbrushed, therefore not even
depicting real women in the first place.
the sad thing is that there is so much pressure to measure up to someone's
ideal notion of beauty (thin), causing all kinds of problems for women as well
as men. and i hear it's affecting kids under ten too , some girls at this age
are getting into the tangled web of eating disorders .
the results of this warped notion of beauty is a real sore spot for me.

I agree. People always make the mistake of comparing others' outside
with their inside. Its' a shame people aren't encouraged to get their
inside right first.
