the only things i haven't done are kids,

> taboo?

wally,

here in the philippines where 85% are roman catholics and more than half
of the schools are sectarian, discussing sex publicly is very heavily
frowned upon though not forbidden. the conservatism of the people here
because of 300+ years of spanish colonization contributed to that.

we discussed sex education in highschool as part of the biology class but
almost all of us were grinning stupidly because its the first time
something so apparently taboo is discussed in class and given an academic
bent; the other half of us were blushing as we take down notes to hide our
embarrassment. it was that circa 1984 when i was in highschool.

now as a teacher, when i ask my students a rhetorical question like: "why
are some countries in europe almost have zero growth rate and they can
discuss sex with relative openness than we do here; while here in our
country, we usually giggle first to indicate that we are uncomfortable
discussing sex openly, but our annual growth rate is 2.35!!!"

in the philippines, the church is allergic to phrases like "population
control" and they opt for politically correct terms like "population
minimization" which are basically the same. i understand that population
control sounds mercenary in the ears of people here, and so, kid-gloving
the words just won't do. the philippines rank 14th in terms of population.

obscene english words)
