I was in a band in my early 20s and we busked all over Germany,
always earning just enough for the train fare to the next town.
There was myself and another English bloke, who was the lead singer,
and then two girls, French and German. Strangest donation: a bowl of
soup and a kipper. A record producer once left his business card,
and we ended up in a recording studio making a record, although it
came to nothing, but it was great fun. We travelled around visiting
a couple of famous German rock singers, and we played for them,
hoping for fame and fortune. If you can find a good spot in nice
weather, and you can get people to clap, dance or sing along with
you, it's surprising how much you can make. Germany's a good country
for this as they have a tradition of artists playing outside, so
people join in the spirit of the thing.

Anyway, this thread did set me thinking about how much I would earn if I took
to the streets armed only with my rudimentary guitar strumming and ability to
carry a tune reasonably well. I've always fancied having a go at busking,
