I remember that commercial! (like the way you represented the tune too). I still have a coffee percolator which I use maybe once every two years. It's a great big ugly thing - AVOCADO GREEN canya dig it? - and it's meant for brewing coffee for 25 or so people. Every now and then I trot it out to brew coffee for the people at work when I'm having one of my "treat-the-staff-nice" days, or the odd (very odd!) family gathering.
