On the last day of our New Orleans JoniFest Voyage I read about a
musician named Tony Green. This from the liner notes of his CD, "Gypsy
Jazz": "As a guitarist growing up in America in the late '60s and '70s
you'd expect Green to worship at the feet of Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page or
John McLaughlin. Far from it. Tony's idol is of all people the Belgian
gypsy jazz giant Django Reinhardt". You can add Steve and myself to the
list of people who idolize the guitar artistry of Django Reinhardt. On
the way to lunch and then the airport with Michael Paz, we made a quick
stop at Tower Records and I picked up Tony's CD.

The first paragraph of the liner notes reads: "It's not uncommon for
creative people to have more than one outlet for their muse. Musicians
as diverse as Felix Mendelssohn, George Gershwin, Tony Bennett and Joni
Mitchell could all paint for instance."

Gypsy Jazz by Tony Green, highly recommended.
