Yes I would have to think the Rev is esconched in a world of pain that I know
myself i would be in. With a lighted match poised over kerosene soaked
baseball cards of the team. People who arent hard core baseball fans
undoubtedly cant understand why those of us who are take it so seriously but
to explain the subtleties of the game, and as one who has coached for years
and played for many more I know, is difficult. What makes it hurt so much is
that the season goes on for months and there is this tremendous buildup that
increases until you finally reach the post season. Then in a few days with
some bad luck and some bad calls a a few timely hits by the other team it all
goes...poof. You wonder why your smashed balls go right at the fielder while
their froopy ground balls go for hits. Chicago had a dream season and even
though a young team they played so well for so long it was amazing to watch.
In the post season everything is magnified and a short "slump" of non
production is devastating. So Vince, my hearts out to you big fella. The
season is to be savored and also seen as a preview of next season when the
team builds upon what it started this year. Sometimes you cant win until you
find out how you lose. My Giants lost a tough game to the Mets the other
night so we now have to go back to New York where its tough to win with our
series tied 1-1. The tension this weekend will be enormous. Rev nothing can
take away those magnificent Sox triumphs this season that got them into the
playoffs. As we always say in baseball...wait til next year. marcel deste
