um, Neil has had a live recording out of All Along The Watchtower since eight years ago... it's on the "Bobfest" (as Neil coined it), the big 30th anniversary of Bob Dylan's recording career held in the fall of 1992. I highly recommend it even if you don't really like bob's singing, as he's only on two songs at the end. It's got *everybody* except joni in the lineup it seems... the highlight for me is the version of My Back Pages, which is just historic... it starts with Roger McGuinn's familiar 12-string Rickenbacker introduction (the Byrds did a cover version of it in 1966), Roger sings the first verse, then we hear (I forget in what order) a verse sung by Tom Petty, a guitar solo by Eric Clapton and a verse sung by him, a verse sung by George Harrison, a guitar solo by Neil Young and a verse sung by him, and a verse sung by His Bobness. All of those guys cover Bob songs elsewhere in the show, as do the Cash&Carter Family, Willie Nelson, Lou Reed, Tracy Chapman, The O-Jays, John Mellencamp, Chrissie Hynde, Ron Wood, Stevie Wonder, Kristofferson, Mary Chapin-Carpenter&Roseanne Cash... I probably left someone out...
