So it seems to you, but I and many of my friends and neighbors could not get
any work at all in the early 90s because of the busted Reagan/Bush economy.
I'd rather not live through such an economic time again.

And having been a kid in the South when it was still segregated, it was seared
into me that the people who are in office have a very definite effect on
people's lives. So politics matter, a lot.

Are there checks and balances? Yep. Can we protest if decisions are made we
don't like? Yep. Do things smooth out over time no matter who's in office?
Maybe. Eventually. But why spend years waiting when there's a choice that can
be made now? Especially now, when there are such contrasting philosophies to
choose from. To say it doesn't matter who the government leaders are, no, I
don't agree with that at all.
