Hi gang...Rose asked me to forward this...

Well, I drove all the way to Easton, PA tonight to get a second opinion from
my neurosurgeon who did my original neck surgery back in 1990. According to
Dr Barry, NO WAY! He advised me that in his opinion what he saw on the MRI
films were was foraminal stenosis and NOT a herniated disc. He also said the
radiologist's report was sloppy. So there ya go, see that. What that means in
laymen's terms is that I have bone spurs narrowing the space where the nerve
passes through and yes they do encroach a little on the spinal cord, but not
to warrant neurosurgery at this time. He prescribed 6 weeks of physical
therapy and a soft cervical neck collar. So we're gonna try that out and see
what happens. My reflexes and strength were OK. I've noticed over the past 2
days some improvement and less need for the painkillers. so why have surgery
in the midst of improvement? Thanks for your prayers and good vibes guys, I
think it helped. I'll let you know how I respond to the therapy.

Love,
Rose in NJ who feels blessed to have so many good friends ;~
