Oh yes, Michael McDonald - I bought all his albums, Doobie or not, in the
70s and 80s.  Ahhhh - his music also made me feel jubilant more often than
not, too.

I thought of another song that is probably obscure but always got me all
weepy and sniffling - "Brighter Days" by Kenny Loggins.  I used to play that
one over and over and also played it on my guitar.  I'd sit there singing
and wallowing in it.  I guess it was one of those "comfort in melancholy"
songs for me. The lyrics are simple, but the music is beautiful, and the way
Kenny sings it just devastates me.  What a song.
