Dear Chairman of the DNC: Democrats have made me a convert after Ive voted Republican in the past 4 elections! Why? 1. Democrats are better at the art of political war! Democrats treat politics like war; Republicans treat it like a high-school debate. Who will consistently win? Democrats! Lets just hope that should the US have to go to war (heaven forbid), that the Democrats are as ruthless toward the enemy as they have been against their Republican fellow countrymen. Furthermore, their PR and Spin Meisters are superior to their Republican counterparts; Ive been amazed at the Democratic Spin Meisters who make white look like black and black look like white, according to the direction of the prevailing wind. 2. Democrats are more loyal to their own than Republicans. I remember when Ronald Reagan was termed the Teflon President. Bill Clinton perfected the art. He was caught perjurying himself and still survived impeachment with Democrats not only protecting him but also actually making up the excuses for him. If he had been Republican, he would have been gone years ago! 3. Democrats are more glamorous than Republicans. More Hollywood entertainers vote more consistently Democratic than Republican, and lets face it: Arnold Schwartznegger is no Alex Baldwin, Belinda Carlyle is no Barbara Streisand, and, of course, theres only one Rosie ODonnell. I was dumbfounded to learn that some of our countrys entertainment royalty threatened to move, yes, actually move from the US if Bush became president. That would truly be a national loss; the thought of Barbara Streisand moving from her seaside mansion in Malibu to a seaside mansion in the South of France, preventing me from spending a few hundred dollars on a future concert to hear her croon People Need People was too much to consider. 4. Finally, Im tired flat out tired. It takes too much time to consider, ponder and weigh things like issues, character and integrity. I just want the simplicity of knowing that I can vote for the party that promises to make me feel better, more comfortable, and more fulfilled, and if we stop to truly admit it, we can always feel just a little bit better about ourselves. Its just too much to expect us to continuously take responsibility for ourselves; thats a job better left to our elected officials, our government. I now realized that Republicans have tricked us into thinking that this is our obligation. What a fool Ive been! Ive gone through years of soul-searching with the burden of this responsibility and for what? Now, I know, since Ive done more research, that Democrats have been there all along with that wonderful net of safety to catch us all when we fall. In closing, thank you with much gratitude. I look forward to working on the Hillary Clinton Presidential Campaign 2004!
